About Zoom

Zoom is one of the best video calling platforms out there. It is very easy to setup and has exceptional group call support. Zoom lets you use it right away without even needing to login. However, we recommend that you do create an account because it saves a lot of trouble and time in the future.

Zoom boasts their security and mentions how companies like DocuSign and Capital One trust Zoom. Their mission is to "make video communications frictionless and secure" and they have a vision of people using video communications to get more done.

How To Start Using Zoom

Download

First, go to the Google Play Store or the App Store and search "Zoom Cloud Meetings." Tap install. Or go to Zoom's download page, scroll down, and tap install for Android or iPhone depending on what phone you have.

Setup

(The setup is optional, but it does save time in the future.)

Second, launch the Zoom app and give it permission to access your camera and microphone.

Third, sign in to Zoom or create an account. This will enable the teacher to add you to their contacts and call you directly later on.

First Call

Fourth, if you have signed in to Zoom, your teacher will send an email with an invite link to their contacts. Accept the invite and the teacher will call you.

If you have not created an account and signed in to Zoom, then your teacher will send a Zoom meeting ID to your email. Open the email and click on the link and it will take you to the call. If this does not work, copy the Zoom meeting ID, go to the app, tap the "join" icon, paste the Zoom meeting ID, and tap the "Join" button.

In the Lesson

Fifth, after joining the first call, make sure that your camera and microphone are turned on. The teacher can not teach if those are turned off.

Later Lessons

If you have created an account and signed to Zoom, the teacher will have added you to their contacts and will be able to call you directly every time you have a lesson.

If you have not created an account, your teacher will have to send you an email with a new Zoom meeting ID every week for a new meeting. This may lead co complications and we recommend creating an account.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You're all set up.

Zoom is very reliable and has a proven track record. We highly recommend that you get a Zoom account for future lessons to help make the virtual lessons simpler and smoother.

Keep on practicing and remember that Everyone Great has a Beginning.
